State Wrestling
Bishop Kelly Wrestling is now a 5 time 4A Academic State Champion Team! Our wrestlers took the title this year with a team average GPA of 3.54. With only five BK wrestlers competing in the state tournament at respective weight classes BK placed 10th as a team. Christopher Martino at 106 won his second State Championship as a sophomore!! Jackson Huskey at 170 placed third, winning in overtime fashion to finish his high school wrestling career. All state participants wrestled really well over the weekend! Proud of our team for an awesome season. GO KNIGHTS!

The girls also were awarded state academic champions for the 2nd year running. Congratulations to the Bishop Kelly Cheer team and good luck at the State Competition on March 20th!

District Debate
BK Speech and Debate competed at the District Debate Tournament held at Timberline High School last weekend and are pleased to announce that ALL eligible debaters were in attendance, and nearly half of those students qualified for State! Congratulations to the Team for taking 3rd at Districts! Special recognition to state qualifiers for Congress: Jesse Risch, Houston Phillips, and Rin Komma, and alternate Jude Balderson; the qualifiers for Public Forum: Peyton Juggert, Bridget McDonagh, Chris Rodriguez, and John Mulhern; and the qualifiers for Lincoln-Douglass: Justice Walker and Aidan Scanlan. State Debate will be at Boise High School March 13 and 14.

The season so far has had numerous accomplishments among individuals, it is almost too difficult to mention some here without fear of missing many. In this post, I'd like to remind our community how successful this TEAM has been by sharing our team successes. At all but one tournament, all year since October, we have had someone pick up first place in their event. Many times, like at the Holiday Havoc in December, we have taken multiple first places. Then, more specifically, we won the 1st place at Canyon County Classic in all the debate events. We took 2nd in the sweepstakes at Mountain View's "Running with the Bulls" tournament. We qualified two students, Abby Murano and Houston Phillips to go to Nationals in Albuquerque, and one alternate as well. And finally, as mentioned before, took third at the big District Debate Tournament. It has been a fun year, and the ride isn't over yet! See you at State Debate, District Speech (Borah in April), and State Speech where we hope to break more records.

Girls LAX
The BK girls lacrosse team had their very first games of the season this week. They brought home two wins against their biggest competitors Rocky Mountain and Eagle. They beat Rocky on Tuesday with a score of 15-5 and battled Eagle with a final score of  13-9. The girls have played Eagle in the Championship game for the past two years so this was a very exciting win for the team. JV team played a great game v Eagle eventually falling 7-11. Congratulations to the BK Girls Lacrosse team!
